1st Sunday of Advent

- November 30, 2025

From today’s Gospel reading:

Jesus said to his disciples:  “Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know which day your Lord will come.”

Reflection:

In today’s gospel Jesus urges us to stay awake and ready for his coming. Not with fear but with awareness, living each day attentive to God’s presence in the ordinary moments of life.

So, we ask ourselves:

  • What in my life needs to be transformed into an instrument of peace?

  • How am I living each day alert to Christ’s presence?

  • What concrete steps of kindness, forgiveness, generosity can I take this Advent to reflect God’s light in my family, community or world?

1st Sunday of Advent

- November 30, 2025

From today’s Isaiah reading:

They shall beat their swords into plowshares

and their spears into pruning hooks,

one nation shall not raise the sword against another,

nor shall they train for war again.

Reflection:

Peace is our prayer for ourselves, our families and our world. Isaiah calls us to a change of heart and a commitment to a new way of living. We pray with Isaiah today, asking God to fashion our hearts to the prophet’s words, so that we can put down whatever swords and spears we are carrying.

We want peace and so we ask ourselves:

  • What “swords and spears” do I carry into my daily life?

  • How can I refashion my words and actions to bring about the peace Isaiah envisions in my world?
